GCB 2011 invites the submission of papers on all aspects of bioinformatics. This year's conference particularly invites papers on
"BIOINFORMATICS FROM Genes and Sequences TO Medical Systems"
The GCB 2011 features a regular paper, a highlights and a poster track. The tracks will be presented in independent sessions.
The conference language will be English.
"HIGHLIGHTS": The "Highlights" track will present recent work - preferably published during the last year - to the German bioinformatics community. Submissions will be in pdf format and include the proposed "Highlight" 2011 and a brief justification (max. 1 page, 11 pt Arial, DIN A4) of the importance and relevance of the work. For the submission please combine the paper(s) (one or more) and the justification into a single pdf-file. "Highlights" presentations will be selected by the program committee based on originality, importance and relevance of the work for the GCB audience. It is hoped that the "Highlights" sessions will become a discussion forum about the current trends of Bioinformatics research in Germany.
POSTERS: Posters should present recent scientific work in Bioinformatics. Poster abstracts are 1-2 pages (11pt, Arial, DIN A4) including figures and references. Abstracts of accepted posters will be published in a separate abstract book. Posters will be presented and discussed in a Poster session at the GCB 2011.
PAPERS: Papers should have about eight pages (11pt, Arial, DIN A4) and will be published in the conference proceedings. Young scientists and PhD students are especially encouraged to submit their work. Paper submissions will be peer-reviewed by the program committee and judged by quality, originality, and relevance. The regular paper sessions will allow young scientists to get external feedback to their work and to present it to the bioinformatics community for discussion in order to facilitate a publication in a scientific journal or the dissertation thesis.
JUNIOR PAPERS: For the first time, the German Conference of Bioinformatics will have a focus on contribution from young scientists.
10 years after the start of the DGF funded bioinformatics programs at German Universities, a rich culture in bioinformatics has evolved. Many
students and graduates have successfully contributed to projects and publications. However, the chance to present ideas and own work on a conference
is rare. Thus, this year's GCB especially encourages young scientists to present their work, to exchange ideas and to meet colleagues.
The session will also open a job market for Ph.D. and post-doc positions. Come and find your next team, catch ideas, and contribute your work.
The Junior Conference will take place on September 7th from 9:00 to 15:00.
GCB Juniors invites undergraduates, graduates, and postdocs up to one year after finishing Ph.D. to submit their papers. The corresponding
author must be either first or last author and present the paper. Please mark your submissions as "GCB Junior".
The best paper presented at the Junior Conference will be awarded by the H.W.Mewes Trophy (500 €). The best Junior poster will receive
the Biomax Informatics Award (300 €).
Submissions will only be accepted electronically from June, 1 2011 until July, 15 (Posters until August 15) via the easychair system
http://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=gcb2011.
Please fill the required author and abstract fields in EasyChair, combine all material for a submission (paper(s), justification, supplement(s)) into a single pdf-file for uploading.
Authors will be notified about acceptance by Juli 31.
